Here’s what you need to know:
You have the right to register voters on any public sidewalk, public park, outside of any government building, etc. To register voters on private property, you will need to get permission from the property owner.
*You must register to solicit voter registrations. If you have not already done so, print this form and mail to the Missouri Secretary of State’s office.
“Hi, are you registered to vote in Missouri?”
If yes, “Great, will you sign this pledge to only vote for candidates that will protect choice?”
If no, “The only way we will have a government that truly represents all of us, if for all of us vote. I can help you get registered right now!”
If unsure, “we can check it right now on my/your phone here:” https://s1.sos.mo.gov/elections/voterlookup/
If they are not registered or if the information is outdated, have them register on paper or online.
Either fold and tape the two-sided form, or put it in a envelope and *Be sure to address to the county election authority of the county of the voter.*
Stamp and have the voter put in the mail. **Try to position yourself near a mailbox, so they can mail it right then and it won’t get misplaced or forgotten.**
“Thank you for taking the time to register to vote today! You should receive your voter registration card in the mail within two weeks. Will you sign this pledge to only vote for candidates that will protect choice?”
*Of course, always be polite and thank them, even if they disagree or say no.*
Print voter registration cards here! *You will be prompted to select a county. The forms are double sided and designed so they can be folded and mailed without an envelope. The forms themselves are all the same, but addresses on the back are to each respective county’s Board of Elections. If you use the double sided fold and mail option, you might want to print a few for nearby counties. Or you can simply just print the first page, and have envelopes on hand.
Online Voter Registration can ONLY be done on a touch screen device, such as a tablet or smart phone. One must be able to sign their signature, therefore it has to be a touch screen. Here is the link register online.
Other items: Clip boards, pens, tape (if using the double-sided fold and mail option), envelopes, stamps, and/or tablet or touch screen phone for online registration. You can also walk the voter through the process on their phone if they have one.
